If you’re going to be in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and are wondering where’s the best place to get tacos, let me save you tons of time and research! I’ve scoured the city of Puerto Vallarta, spoken with locals and friends who live in Puerto Vallarta to figure out where it’s all at. Lucky for you, I ate some not so great tacos in Puerto Vallarta so you don’t have to!
The Best Street Tacos in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
Best Seafood
Marisco Cisnero
Outfront of their famous seafood restaurant, Marisco Cisnero’s serves the best seafood street tacos you could dream of. My favorite is the grilled shrimp, which comes with grilled onions and vegetables in a soft corn tortilla. Another must try is their seafood quesadilla, and the octopus tostada!

Best Asada
Tacos El Moreno
Handmade tortillas to order, fall apart asada, friendly service, and places to sit and eat – what more could you ask for? This taco stand is consistent, and one of the cheapest around for the quality. My go-to order here are asada street tacos with cilantro and onions. Sometimes I mix it up for pork street tacos, and those are just as delicious.

Best Birria
Tacos de Birria Chanfay
Birria is an exquisite savory dish, full of culture and tradition. It was originally made with goat meat, but also made with beef, veal, lamb or pork. You can opt for “blanditos” (soft) or “dorados” (crunchy) , but I always prefer the texture of the dorados with the melt in your mouth meat. If you are not ready to try goat meat, they also have spicy shredded beef, pork, or chafayna which is a mix of heart, liver, and lungs.

Best Carnitas
Caritas Lola
Tips for non Spanish speaking customers: You will be asked which type of taco you would like “surtido” or “carne.” Here are the differences; “Carne” tacos will be filled with lean-ish shoulder meat. “Surtido” costs less and means your taco will be filled with ribs, skin, stomach, and shoulder. You will get a richer flavor from the Surtido!
Aguacate, 48380 Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico
Best Cabeza
El Chulo
This tiny taco stand is very hard to find if you aren’t looking for it specifically. One way to spot it though is the line of locals at night. They have been in business for over 40 years, and are a staple for locals and tourists alike. Cabeza means head, which is usually beef cheek meat, but know it could include meat from the head. These tacos are so flavorful and delicious, and come in the cheapest around .65 cents a piece.

Best Quesadilla
Tacos Memo Grill
This is your late night quesadilla heaven. I love asada or pork with beans and cheese. I know quesadillas are not technically street tacos, but I needed to shout this stand out for the crispy and flavorful perfection they create. I will also note that these are (in my opinion) the nicest street taco vendors! They are always so happy to see you, and feed you!
